e-ASC Best Practice III– Advanced Setup

The following steps will help you to solve these problems:

 

1.  ‘Page Cannot Be Display’ Problems.

 

Firstly, you need to check the existence of toolbars in your computer. 

1)      Click on the View drop-down menu.  View Toolbars.  If there is a toolbars installed in your PC, it will be listed here.

 

 

2) If toolbars exist, Please remove or uninstall all the toolbar(s) from your PC as this will eliminate interruptions to your e-ASC usage. To remove the Toolbars:

·        Go to Start (or click the Window key on your keyboard).

·        Select Settings and choose Control Panel from the menu.

 

 

 (If you are an XP user, please change your current view to Classic View)

·        Double-click on the Add or Remove Programs icon.

 

 

3) At the Add or Remove Programs window, search for Yahoo Toolbar, MSN Toolbar, Google Toolbar, ICQ Toolbar, or Dashbar Toolbar. Click on the toolbar(s) that need to be uninstalled, and then click on the Remove button as shown:

 

 

After successfully removing all Toolbars, please restart your computer to activate the changes.


2.  e-ASC Pop-Ups Blocked Problem

If an e-ASC pop-up window is blocked, the following steps are encouraged to be carried out.

 

1) Check if Norton Antivirus is installed. Launch ‘Norton Antivirus’ by right clicking the icon as show below.

 

2)      Select Options on the menu bar.

 

 

3)      Next click on Script Blocking option and make sure the button Enable Blocking is not checked. Then click OK.

 

 

3) Unable to Print e-ASC Documents Problems

 

This problem is always due to the Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed. It could be corrupted and therefore hindering the printing process.

When the message box appeared as below during printing of e-ASC Documents please re-install the Acrobat Reader software.

 

 

* This is due to newly installed software that changed the registry settings of your Internet Explorer browser.

 

1) On the left hand side of e-ASC website there is a list-down menu. Select Utility Download as shown below.

 

 

2) The Utility Download frame will appear.  Next, click on the Acrobat Reader 7.0 link.

 

 

3) You will be directed to the Adobe website. Click on the red colored download button to perform the installation as shown.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure you have uninstalled your previous Adobe Acrobat Reader before re-installing it.

 

 

 

4) Click on the Save button.

Install the Adobe Reader by following its instruction or contact your Principal’s IT Department for assistance.

 

 

Useful Software for your computer: AntiSpyware

 

1) On the left hand side of e-ASC website there is a list-down menu. Click on the Utility Download as shown below

 

 

2) The Utility Download frame will appear.  Select Microsoft AntiSpyware.

 

 

3) You will be directed to the Microsoft website.  Click on the Continue button.

 

 

4) Select No, do not validate Windows at this time, but take me to the download.  Then, press the Continue button.

 

 

5) You will be directed to the confirmation page.  Please reconfirm your action and check on your PC memory size availability. 

Click the Download button to start downloading.

 

 

6) Once you have completed the download process, a dialog box will appear to.  Click on the Save button.

 

 

Useful Software for your computer: Anti-Virus

 

1) At the Utility Download window, Click on the AVG Anti-Virus link.

 

 

2) You will be directed to the AVG Anti-Virus website.  Click on avg70free 323a539.exe.

 

 

3) A dialog box will appear.  Click the Save button to continue.

 

 

4) Click on avg70free_323a539.exe and follow the installation instructions.
